First Book of the Year 2016

Sheila at Book Journey is hosting the first book of the year 2016. Her website is:

http://bookjourney.net/

I have two different books I will be reading. I have trouble reading non fiction all the way through so I am alternating it with a fiction book I started earlier this week.

I picked Spark Joy because I read the Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo this year and it was hands down my favorite book of 2015. I cleaned out at least 1/16 of my belongings including around 800 books.

I picked When Secrets Strike because I read the first book in the series a few months ago and really liked it.

Great idea to alternate between fiction and nonfiction books. I've done the same. Enjoy! Thanks for sharing, and here's my FIRST BOOK OF 2016 POST

I like alternating between nonfiction and fiction too. I definitely find it helps break it up a bit. I wasn't aware Kondo had another book. I read her first book and while I didn't completely click with it I've found - especially as time goes on - that it definitely helped me shift my way of thinking on what needs to be kept and what doesn't. I have a lot less clutter now. The Marta Perry series looks interesting. She's new to me so I need to go find out more about her!

I like to alternate my non-fiction with a fiction book too. These are two great choices. Hope you love them both!

Happy New Year! Good luck with your first reads of 2016. When I have two books going, I always do one nonfiction and a fiction too.

Hau'oli Makahiki Hou. Kudos to you on tackling nonfiction. Memoirs are about the only nonfiction I'd read. The Amish genre sounds interesting as it has a bit of crime and romance in it. I wonder how it's different from Christian fiction?

I too only read part of a non-fiction, then have to stick in a fiction before going back to finish the non-fiction. But I love them both tho! Happy reading.
Oh...and 800 books? Was it hard to do?

I always have at least one fiction read going when I'm reading nonfiction, too. Same here - I take a lot longer getting through the nonfiction, for some reason. Happy New Year!
