Kilmeny of the Orchard by L. M. Montgomery

The first paragraph of Kilmeny of the Orchard:

The sunshine of a day in early spring, honey pale and honeysweet, was showering over the red brick buildings of QueensleaCollege and the grounds about them, throwing through the bare, budding maples and elms, delicate, evasive etchings of gold andbrown on the paths, and coaxing into life the daffodils that werepeering greenly and perkily up under the windows of the co-eds'dressing-room.
Book Summary:
Twenty-four-year-old Eric Marshall agrees to take a teaching job on Prince Edward Island only as a favor to one of his friends--he has no intention of staying any longer than the two months he has promised. However, everything changes when he falls in love a beautiful mute girl named Kilmeny Gordon. Will Eric be able to win Kilmeny's love?
My Review: This book features the same lyrical language as in other L. M. Montgomery books. I love her descriptions of nature and people too. She had a gift for creating memorable characters. Anne of Green Gables series is one of my all time favorite ever. I would definitely recommend this book to fans of L.M. Montgomery's books. :)
