  • It's been eighteen years since TV crime reporter Andi Hollister's sister was murdered. The confessed killer is behind bars, and the execution date is looming. But when a letter surfaces stating that the condemned killer didn't actually do it, Detective Will Kincaide of the Memphis Cold Case Unit will stop at nothing to help Andi get to the bottom of it. After all, this case is personal: the person who confessed to the crime is Will's cousin. They have less than a week to find the real killer before the wrong person is executed. But much can be accomplished in that week--including uncovering police corruption, running for your life, and falling in love.

    My Review:

This was a decent Christian romantic suspense book. They mystery and suspense factors were good. The plot was well developed and interesting. I did not like the main character Andi's pain pill addiction though. It did not work as part of the story and I felt it detracted from it. Will Kincaide has liked Andi for years but she is his best friend's sister. Andi has a tendency for trouble as a tv crime reporter. She puts herself and her friend in danger. The main plot of this story is proving Will's cousin who is on death row innocent before he is put to sleep. I did guess who really did it but not until close to the end. The romance development between Will and Andi was okay. The conclusion was good and fit the story. This is the first book in a new series called Memphis Cold Cases. I look forward to reading book two.

Silence in the Dark by Patricia Bradley (Review)

  • Series: Logan Point (Book 4)
  • Paperback: 352 pages
  • Publisher: Revell (April 19, 2016)
  • ISBN-13: 978-0800724184

  • Bailey Adams is running for her life . . . again.
When Bailey Adams left Logan Point two years ago she thought she was getting away from her problems. Running into her ex-fiancé Danny Maxwell was not part of the plan--neither was being chased through the city by the local drug cartel, the Calatrava. Now despite her best efforts, Danny is her only chance of escaping the people chasing her and getting back to Logan Point safely. Can Bailey find the strength to face what's coming? And in the midst of the chaos, can she keep herself from falling in love with her rescuer all over again?

With lean, fast-paced prose that will keep you turning the pages, Patricia Bradley pens a superb story of suspense and second chances.

    My Review:

Silence in the Dark is book four in the Logan Point series. I recommend reading them in order since the characters and part of the mystery continue throughout the series. The main focus in this book is on Bailey and Danny. Bailey ran away to Mexico to do Mission work after breaking up with Danny the first time. Danny is in Mexico looking for a connection between the Calatrava and his father's company. The former CFO was selling stolen rifles to somebody down in Mexico. Danny is at the same café as Bailey at just the right time. The Calatrava want the little girl that she is taking to the states to visit her grandparents. So on the run they go and she ends up needing Danny to help her. Bailey is not sure who to trust but is pretty sure Danny is okay. The sparks still fly between the two of them. They end up back in Logan Point but the danger is not gone. This was a page turning book that held my attention from the beginning. The mystery/suspense part was well done. The characters and plot were well developed, unique, and interesting. I recommend the whole series.

Gone Without a Trace by Patricia Bradley (Review)

  • Series: Logan Point (Book 3)
  • Paperback: 336 pages
  • Publisher: Revell (July 7, 2015)
  • ISBN-13: 978-0800722821

  • It's been more than two years since homicide detective Livy Reynolds's cousin disappeared from Logan Point. Unlike most people in her hometown, Livy has never believed that Robyn left voluntarily. When Dallas private investigator Alex Jennings contacts Livy concerning a missing senator's daughter who was last seen in Logan Point, she notices eerie similarities between the two disappearances. But with self-doubt plaguing her and an almost instant dislike of Jennings, Livy is finding this investigation an uphill battle. With her future in law enforcement on the line, can she find a way to work with a man who is her polar opposite?

    My Review:

This was a good Christian mystery/suspense book. As this is a third book in a series with repeating characters I recommend reading them in order. The main focus of this book is on Livy and Alex. Her cousin Robyn disappeared more than two years ago and Livy is one of the only ones who did not buy she left voluntarily. Livy works as a Memphis Detective and Alex is a PI. Their paths cross when he is hired to find a Senator's daughter whose case has similarities to Robyn. Livy is still struggling with a decision she made in the line of duty and ends up on leave. A new clue appears on Robyn's case and Livy ends up working with Alex reluctantly. The plot and characters were well developed and interesting. I did not guess who the bad guy was until the end. The romance between Alex and Livy was good. I liked the Southern setting. The conclusion was satisfying. I recommend the whole series. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

A Promise to Protect by Patricia Bradley (Review)

    • Series: Logan Point (Book 2)
    • Paperback: 336 pages
    • Publisher: Revell (October 7, 2014)
    • ISBN-13: 978-0800722814

Acting Sheriff Ben Logan hasn't heard from Leigh Somerall in a very long time, but it doesn't mean he can get her--or their whirlwind romance of ten years ago--out of his head. When she calls out of the blue, it is with a strange request to protect her brother, Tony. When Tony dies just days later, Ben is charged with a different task--protecting Leigh and her nine-year-old son, TJ, from the killers. But how can Ben keep an eye on Leigh if she's doing everything in her power to avoid him? And could the secret that Leigh is keeping change Ben's life forever?

Suspense, intrigue, and a touch of romance make A Promise to Protect perfect for readers who like their stories with a hearty dose of mystery.

     My Review:

This was a good Christian romantic suspense book. It is second in the Point Logan series and can stand alone. The characters and plot were well developed and interesting.  I felt like I was experiencing the events with them. The sparks flew between Ben and Leigh. It kept my attention from beginning to end. My mind felt blown away at the end. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.  Recommended especially to fans of Dee Henderson, Irene Hannon, etc.

Shadows of the Past by Patricia Bradley (Review)

    • Series: Logan Point (Book 1)
    • Paperback: 352 pages
    • Publisher: Revell (February 4, 2014)
    • ISBN-13: 978-0800722609

Psychology professor and criminal profiler Taylor Martin prides herself on being able to solve any crime, except the one she wants most desperately to solve--the disappearance of her father twenty years ago. When she finally has a lead on his whereabouts, Taylor returns home to Logan Point, Mississippi, to investigate. But as she is stalking the truth about the past, someone is stalking her.

Nick Sinclair pens mystery novels for a living, but the biggest mystery to him is how he can ever get over the death of his wife--a tragedy he believes he could have prevented. With his estranged brother the only family he has left, Nick sets out to find him. But when he crosses paths with Taylor, all he seems to find is trouble.

Join the chase as this determined duo search the murky shadows of the past for the keys to unlocking the present and moving into a future filled with new hope and love. Readers will be swept into the sultry South in this debut novel from a promising and already award-winning writer.

     My Review:

I thought this was an okay debut book. It is a Christian romantic suspense set mostly in the South and some in Washington state. Taylor is a Southern girl who is coming home because she's being stalked and her family needs her. Nick crosses her path and follows her to Mississippi because he is searching also for his brother. Nick is supposed to be like Castle the TV show detective/writer. Most of the book was a little slower than expected and some of the characters not quite developed enough. The ending was predictable but fit the story. This is the first book in a series. I think I will read the second to see what happens with Nick and Taylor. Recommended to fans of this genre.
