A Man of His Word by Kathleen Fuller

About the book:
Moriah's heart will only be safe with A Man of His Word

When Moriah Byler married Levi Miller, she thought they would share a long life together. She is astonished when one day he abruptly leaves the Order, and her along with it. She is hopeful that they'll reconcile, but Levi has a fatal accident. Unbeknownst to him, Moriah is pregnant.

Moriah finds herself alone and unsure where to turn. She’s reticent about trusting her heart to anyone. What Moriah doesn’t know is that Levi’s twin, Gabriel, has loved her for years, but has kept this to himself. Gabriel is a man of his word--and a man of God’s word. After another unexpected tragedy, Moriah must learn to unguard her heart and accept his love so she can be made whole again.

My Review:
A Man of His Word is basically two stories in one even though the secondary plot is interwoven between the main plot of Moriah Miller's story. The setting is Middlefield in an Amish community. The secondary plot line features Moriah's brother Tobias Byler. Rachel Detweiler is a friend of his from childhood who is a known tomboy and thorn in his side or so he thinks. Is she destined to be more? I liked the secondary plot more than I did the main story but they were both good. I wish Tobias's story was a separate book. It is not hard to keep the two plots separate just annoying at times. I would be caught up in Moriah's story and the next chapter changes to Tobias. Moriah Byler thinks life is now perfect in the beginning of the book. She is marrying Levi Miller who she loves. Four months later she is pregnant but Levi has grown distant and is gone a lot. One night Levi does not come back. He chooses to leave the order and his wife. Even when he finds out she is pregnant he does not care. He wants to live in the Yankee world. His twin brother Gabriel has loved Moriah since childhood. Moriah has been torn to pieces. Will she ever be whole and able to love again?

I definitely recommend this book. I am looking forward to book two in the Hearts of Middlefield series next Spring.
