ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Melody Carlson is the best-selling author of more than 100 books for adults, children, and teens, including three of her latest, These Boots Weren't Made For Walking, A Mile In My Flip-Flops, and Mixed Bags. She and her husband, the parents of two grown sons, make their home near the Cascade Mountains in Central Oregon. Melody is a full-time writer as well as an avid gardener, biker, skier, and hiker.

My Review: I wanted to love this book but I did not for a few reasons. The spiritual element is not strong. There are strong topics that were not dealt with the way I would like including bulimia, premarital sex, excessive tendencies. It has been pointed out to me that this is not a teen book. I did enjoy the overall plot line somewhat but I really could not relate even though I am only 25. The writing was strong and the characters seem real. I just have mixed feelings overall.

How interesting! I would like to read a book from this author and the fact that it is the first of a series interests me a lot! When I first began reading the subject matter, it intrigued me.
